Reliable and fast, but strictly for the tech-savvy
4 out of 5 starsd_laurent_devDO is rock solid and the network throughput is excellent for my API services. However, it is definitely not a "beginner-friendly" host. If you aren't comfortable with a command line or SSH, you will find the experience frustrating. I wish they had a slightly more managed "middle ground" option for their basic tier without the steep jump in cost to their fully managed services.
The gold standard for modern developers
5 out of 5 starsAlex ChenDigitalOcean is my go-to for almost every project. Spinning up a "Droplet" takes about 55 seconds, and their community documentation is literally the best in the world; if you have a problem, there is already a DO tutorial for it. I love the predictable pricing and the ability to scale resources or add block storage with just a few clicks. It's a no-nonsense platform that stays out of your way and lets you code.
